Welcome to my website.
What do I offer?
I am a BACP-registered counsellor offering ‘walk-and-talk’ therapy in natural settings.
People come to therapy for many reasons, and sometimes our work is discovering what these are. You might be coming to better understand a current problem, or you might want to explore something that feels unfinished from the past. Or perhaps you want to be heard and understood, maybe for the first time.
I trained as a Gestalt therapist, which is an experiential approach suitable for a wide range of personal and relational issues. Fundamental to this exploring what is happening between me and you, in our contact with each other. I have found this a powerful way of increasing awareness and moving towards a more satisfying way of being in life and relationships, including our relationship with ourselves.
I believe that it is the quality and depth of the therapeutic relationship that is most healing. I offer a caring and responsive presence with whom you can explore what is difficult in your life. And, therapy is not only about exploring what is difficult or painful; we can also make space for hope and joy.
At the heart of Gestalt Therapy is a belief that we can flourish by becoming more in touch with ourselves, others and the world around us. I believe that exploring who we are in relation to others - our personal, social and cultural histories and differences - is fundamental to health and healing. I hope to provide a place where we can do this together.
Alongside Gestalt Therapy, I have also studied other approaches and have integrated these into my practice, including Nature Allied Psychotherapy. I hold sessions in woodlands around High Wycombe and Marlow. We walk or sit during these sessions, as you wish. Being outside offers an alternative to traditional therapy which suits some people, including those who enjoy being in nature.
Experience
I have worked in private practice since qualifying as a counsellor, which has given me the privilege of meeting many clients with a range of backgrounds and issues. I have also worked for various agencies, including an acute mental health service, a hospice, and a free community service. I have also facilitated personal development groups.
Accreditation and Training
I have an MA and PGDip in Gestalt Therapy, as well as a Diploma in Counselling, accredited with the BACP.
